New fine art on the block "digital painting"

Relatively new art form, digital painting, is becoming more and more popular.  I confess that have become a big fan of this new fine art form.  I haven't seen many of the digitally rendered pieces, but of the ones I have seen they range from mediocre to absolutely unbelievable.  For an example of the extraordinary, go to google plus and check out +May Fong Robinson  she has done some really fantastic work in digital art. It's quite evident she takes great pains with her work and says her paintings generally take up to 50+ hours.  Fascinating!
